One of two libraries of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, the Blegen Library focuses on all aspects of Greece and the Greeks from the earliest prehistory through late antiquity.The Library currently has more than ninety thousand volumes and nearly 700 periodicals. In its field, it is one of the premier research libraries in the world and the best in Greece. The Blegen library is open to Members of the American School of Classical Studies, and to approved visitors.

Blegen Library Holiday Schedule

During the Christmas holiday period, the Blegen Library will be closed to visitors on the following days: December 24, 25, 26, 31 and January 1 and 6. No new cards will be issued and no orientations will take place between December 24th and January 7th.
New Head Librarian Joins Blegen

On October 1, the School welcomed Karen Bohrer to the post of Head Librarian of the Blegen Library. She was previously Director of the Bissell Library at the American College of Thessaloniki.
