The Gennadeion/M. Alison Frantz Fellowship
An important fellowship program was instituted during the directorship of Frank Walton (1961-76): the Gennadeion Fellowship, now called M. Alison Frantz fellowship. This fellowship supports research in the fields of Late Antiquity, Byzantine Studies, and Modern Greek Studies for Ph.D. candidates and recent Ph.D.s from a U.S. or Canadian institution, who must demonstrate their need to work in the Gennadius Library.
The impressive list of fellows demonstrates the significance that this fellowship has had for putting great resources into good use, but also for forging a community of scholars who promote the development of post-classical Greek studies.
