Kellari Taverna is pulling out all the stops! Executive Chef Gregory Zapantis is serving a spectacular menu of Mediterranean dishes like dolmades, grilled octopus, gigantes plaki, wild mushroom stew, Greek-style shrimp and various salads along with a spectacular raw bar with oysters and shrimp. There will be an open bar from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm and Greek wines and beer will be served throughout the evening.
Music will be provided by Gregory Maninakis and his trio, who have performed their take on Greek folk music in such esteemed venues as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and in Athens at the American School’s Cotsen Hall.
All proceeds from the event support the American School of Classical Studies at Athens’ Gennadius Library, a world-renowned center for the study of Greece’s history containing over 120,000 rare books, archives, manuscripts, and research volumes. The Library plays a leading role in disseminating knowledge of Greek culture through public lectures, seminars, symposia exhibitions, and publication in print and on the internet. The Library collaborates with local and international research libraries and academic institutions as well as the broader public in Athens and beyond to enrich our understanding of a culture fundamental to the formation of western civilization.
The Gennadius Library would like to thank corporate sponsor AlphaTrust, our co-chairs, patrons and friends for making this event possible. For further information contact: Jane Goble at jgoble@ascsa.org or call 609-454-6814.
