Kostis Palamas Letters on Display

Natalia Vogeikoff-Brogan

Professor Agne Vlavianou Arvanite has donated to the Archives of the Gennadius Library a small number of letters from poet Kostis Palamas to Nikos Fandrides, as well as books given to Fandrides by Kostis Palamas. Well educated and with a knowledge of several European languages, Fandrides wrote several studies about European philosophers and poets of the 19th century. His work brought him close to poet Kostis Palamas, whose work Fandrides intended to make known in Europe. His premature death in 1914, however, put an end to this plan. The Palamas letters are on display at the main reading room of the Gennadius Library, thanks to archivist Eleftheria Daleziou who prepared a handsome showcase.
