School Trustee is Recognized by Princeton University
Hunter Rawlings addressing the Princeton audience
ASCSA Trustee, Hunter R. Rawlings III was the 2014 recipient of Princeton University’s top honor for Graduate School alumni, the James Madison Medal. In his remarks on receiving the award, Prof. Rawlings, a classicist, who serves as President of the Association of American Universities and is President Emeritus of Cornell University, spoke on the state of higher education in the United States and the enduring importance of the humanities tradition. Despite recent criticisms of liberal arts education and the high costs associated with it, Prof. Rawlings lauds today’s graduates who continue to exemplify the highest qualities of a liberal arts education – creativity, critical thinking, individuality – in service to our society. We congratulate Prof. Rawlings on this important award and his life-long service to higher education. Watch his lecture at Princeton here.
