School Fees and Expenses

This is a list of what you can expect to pay during your stay at the School.
(Rates and fees are subject to change without notice.)

All Members are assessed fees at a rate determined by the Managing Committee of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens.  At present, fees are $200 per month for Regular Members and Student Associate Members and $300 per month for Senior Associate Members.  One-half of this fee is waived for students, faculty members, and graduates of Cooperating Institutions as follows: $100 per month for Regular Members and Student Associate Members and $150 per month for Senior Associate Members.

Room and Board

Members, who wish to live in Loring Hall, must submit a request to , Loring Hall Manager, no later than June 1 so that a place may be reserved.  Room prices for 2009-2010 students in Loring Hall for the full academic year are as follows:

For Student Members:
Single with shared bath (basement): $2,646
Single with shared bath (elsewhere): $3,150
Double with bath:  $4,053

For Senior Members:
Single with shared bath (basement): $3,717
Single with shared bath (elsewhere): $4,221
Double with bath:  $5,103

Rooms will be available from September 11, 2009 onward.

Dining

Meals are served in Loring Hall’s dining room six days a week.
The fees for (2009-2010) are as follows:

Breakfast, Monday through Saturday: 4.10 € for Senior Members, 3.40 € for students;
Buffet lunch, Monday through Saturday: 7.00 € for Senior Members, 4.90 € for students;
Dinner, Monday through Friday: 11.00 € for Senior Members, 7.80 € for students.

Other Expenses

Members should make sure of sufficient funds to cover expenses in Greece before arriving.  Expenses on the required School trips will probably total at least $2,600.  Meals in Loring Hall can total as much as $4,500 for the year, depending on how many meals are eaten at the School.  In addition, one should anticipate travel and housing expenses when away from Athens in the spring, whether on an excavation or individual research projects.  Incidentals, such as laundry, cleaning, books, and entertainment, are also extra.  Christmas and spring travel will, of course, vary greatly from individual to individual.

Please note that travel to and from Greece and elsewhere in Europe, and any expenses incurred during the summer months, are not included in this estimate. 
Expenses for those living outside of the School will average $9,000, not including trips and incidentals.
