The Botanical Collection and Other Collections
There is a growing Botanical Collection of dried plants and seeds (created by Dr. Harriet Blitzer, Dr. Fragkiska Megaloudi and Dr. Evi Margaritis), and charcoal (donated by Dr. Maria Ntinou), as well as a digital archive of phytoliths (donated by Georgia Tsartsidou). Other collections include a large Pigment Collection (initiated by Dr. Hariclia Brecoulaki), Modern Bone Tool (donated by Dr. Rozalia Christidou) and Stone Tool Collections, a part of Marie Farnsworth’s Ceramic Collection (on permanent loan from the Smithsonian Institution), and a Soil Micromorphological Reference Collection of archaeological and natural sediments from the Palaeolithic sequence of Theopetra Cave, situated near Meteora in Northern Greece (donated by Dr. Panagiotis Karkanas).
