The event that took place on January the 15th focused on the exchange of populations between Greece and Turkey in the aftermath of the Asia Minor campaign. Characterized as the "largest population movement in history", the exchange of populations that the Lausanne Treaty proposed as a solution to the political stalemate created after the Greco-Turkish war of 1919-1922 created numerous demographic and economic upheavals.

Historians George Th. Mavrogordatos of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Ayhan T. Aktar of the Istanbul Bilgi University presented the views from both sides of the Aegean and analyzed the issues faced by Greece and Turkey.

The two presentations were followed by discussion with the audience.

The lectures and discussion were in English. A short summary of the presentations in Greek was available.
