To mark the 550th anniversary of George Castriot Skanderbeg’s death, the Gennadius Library and the Embassy of the Republic of Albania to Greece organized an exhibition that celebrates the legacy of George Castriot Skanderbeg.

The opening event took place on Tuesday, 6 November 2018 at 7pm in Cotsen Hall (Anapiron Polemou 9, Kolonaki) featuring Dr. Dorian Koçi, Director of the National Historical Museum of Albania and Dr. Machi Paizi-Apostolopoulou, Research Director Εmerita, Institute of Historical Studies, National Hellenic Research Foundation.

Dr. Dorian Koçi spoke on "Scanderbeg and Europe", while Dr. Paizi-Apostolopoulou spoke about the importance of her recent find “An unknown biography of George Kastriot-Scanderbeg in Greek.The finding and its importance.”

The exhibition in the Reading Room of the Gennadius Library (6-30 November, 2018) features books and engravings from the collections of Panagiotis Koliοmichalis, the Library of the Hellenic Parliament and the Gennadius Library. On the opening day the visitors had the chance to also see rare books from the collection of Patricia Nugee.

The exhibition will be closed on Thursday and Friday November 22 & 23, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
