The Board of the Friends of the Gennadius Library has the pleasure of inviting you to a screening of the film “ZAKROS” by Philippos Koutsaftis, on Wednesday, January 21, at 7:00 p.m., at Cotsen Hall (9 Anapiron Polemou Street).

In Zakros, a small mark on the map of eastern Crete, bathed in light and wind,  the only intact palace of the Minoan world was discovered in 1962. It had been buried for 3,500 years. Philippos Koutsaftis’ film narrates an experience that lasted more than three decades in the historical sites and archaeological monuments of the first great civilization of Europe. There he also met the Zakros of today, its people who quietly and modestly follow the same life cycles as their Minoan ancestors, facing the same place, the same mountains, the same sea, under the same flock of stars.
