The Athens State Orchestra’s (KOA) first Musical Walk of the 2026–27 season marks an exciting new collaboration and coincides with a significant anniversary. For the first time, the Orchestra will present a chamber music concert at the Gennadius Library of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, which celebrates the 100th anniversary of its founding in 2026.

The tetART-on Quartet continues its successful musical journey with a distinctive programme dedicated to the Americas. The concert features works by two of America’s most celebrated composers, George Gershwin and Charles Ives, alongside the much-loved and widely acclaimed String Quartet No. 12 by Czech Romantic composer Antonín Dvořák. Written during his stay in America, the work is famously known as the “American” Quartet.

The programme brings together three distinct musical worlds, united by their shared connection to American identity: Gershwin’s jazz-inspired language, Ives’s bold experimentalism, and Dvořák’s European musical heritage, enriched by his inspiration from the “New World.”

At 7:00 p.m., one hour before the concert, a guided tour of the Library’s anniversary exhibition, “Gennadius 100: A Century of Inspiration,” will take place. The tour will be led by Irini Solomonidi, Head Librarian of the Gennadius Library and one of the exhibition’s curators.
