Irini Solomonidi leads us through a treasured acquisition of the Gennadius Library: a 1713 Venetian edition of Erotokritos by Vitsentzos Kornaros.

Inspired by the epic, Despina Pantazopoulou has created a series of wooden and metal sculptures, arranged like a frieze, tracing the journey of Arethousa’s ring—the symbol of her eternal bond with Erotokritos—through wanderings, duels, and deceitful words, until it is joyfully restored to her hands: “thus this steadfast love was fulfilled with delight.”

Stelios Psaroudakis (voice), Alexandros Kapsokavadis (lute), and Grigoris Psaroudakis (cello) perform selected passages from the epic, focusing on the “cycle” of Arethousa’s ring.

The event takes place within the exhibition “7 artists-7 narratives. AFIcollective inspired by the Gennadius Library”.
