The Senior Librarian of the Gennadius Library, Irini Solomonidi, presented a poster session at the 85th IFLA Congress at the Athens Megaron on August 26 and 27, on the new Digital Humanities project TravelTrails: Travels and Explorations in the Eastern Mediterranean, 1500-1830, a joint project of the Gennadius Library and the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation. It is an innovative trilingual website (English - Greek - Turkish), which systematically documents texts of European travelers who traveled through or participated in missions in the Ottoman Empire and areas of Greek territory under Venetian rule. The Gennadius Library was included in the Library Visits Programme of the IFLA Congress, on August 30. Librarians from various countries had the opportunity to tour the Gennadius Library, where they learned about its history from the Senior Librarian Irini Solomonidi. They also had the chance to see rare books such as the first edition of the works of Homer and books from the Geography and Travel collection.
