Leadership Gift Received from Angel Family

The American School of Classical Studies at Athens is pleased to announce a leadership gift from the family of the late Larry and Peggy Angel toward endowment of the J.  Lawrence Angel Fellowship in Human Skeletal Studies at the Wiener Laboratory. In 1992, the Angel Fellowship was the first fellowship funded at the Wiener Laboratory. J. Lawrence Angel, was the curator of the physical anthropological collections at the Smithsonian Institution and was a leader in the field of biological anthropology. Angel’s interest in classical archaeology stems from his family - both his maternal grandfather, Thomas Day Seymour, former chair of the Managing Committee of the School, and his mother were classicists. His bioarchaeological research in the eastern Mediterranean was pioneering.
