The main photo in LIFO's essay about John Fowles, his classic book "The Magus," and the "magic" island of Spetses, where most of the book's action takes place, comes from the Homer A. Thompson papers (with proper credit at the bottom of the page). It was taken ca. 1930 when Homer went to visit Anastasios Adossides and his family, who had a house with an olive mill on Spetses. (About Adossides, see also "The Agora Benches" in From the Archivist's Notebook.)
