Trustee Jane Buikstra Wins Lifetime Achievement Award

ASCSA Managing Committee Member and Trustee Jane E. Buikstra has been awarded the prestigious Charles R. Darwin Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Association of Physical Anthropologists. She is only the second woman to have received this award — the highest of honors in physical anthropology.

Ms. Buikstra is a Professor of Bioarchaeology at Arizona State University and the Director of its Center for Bioarchaeology Research. Her fields of specialization include bioarchaeology, forensic anthropology, and mortuary site archaeology in the Mediterranean, Mesoamericas, and North and South America.

Professor Buikstra will be the speaker at the June 16, 2008 Wiener Lab Lecture to be held at Loring Hall entitled, “J. Lawrence Angel: A Pioneer in the Archaeology of the Eastern Mediterranean.”
