School Receives $2 Million from Malcolm Wiener Foundation

Reception at the present Wiener Laboratory

It is with great pleasure that the School announces that the Malcolm H. Wiener Foundation has made a major contribution to the ASCSA in December with a gift of $2 million for the construction of a new Wiener Laboratory facility on the grounds of the School. The School is very grateful to Malcolm Wiener and to the Foundation for presenting us with this extremely generous gift and for giving the School’s Capital Campaign a major boost, even before it has officially begun.

As a measure of the commitment of the School to the Wiener Lab and in recognition of the leading contributions of the lab to the field of archaeological science, the Trustees of the School have agreed to make every effort to find a matching $2 million for the construction of the lab. Two Trustees have already made pledges of more than $500,000 for the new lab. We intend to use this major gift to try to leverage other funding for the Wiener Lab and for other Capital Campaign goals.

The Trustees, Managing Committee, staff, alumni and friends of the School would like to express their deepest appreciation to Malcolm Wiener and to the Malcolm H. Wiener Foundation for their vision in creating the lab, and for their generosity in providing the support to put it on a solid foundation, both physically and financially, for the foreseeable future.
