Molly Schaub - University of Pennsylvania

Molly is a 5th year PhD student in Classical Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on the way ancient Greeks and Romans wrote about and engaged with the material world – including the production, use, and exchange of everyday “things”. She is interested in poetic texts that depict a vibrant material world -- such as Greek Old Comedy -- and more encyclopedic texts such as Pliny the Elder's Natural History and, the focus of her dissertation, Athenaeus' Deipnosophists. She has excavated in Greece and Italy and currently works on the Molyvoti, Thrace Archaeological Project (MTAP).
