Joining the Pieces of Greece's History
In 1903, a fragment of a 2,000-year-old marble satyr head was unearthed by the American School during early excavations at Ancient Corinth. More than a century later, the missing piece of the face was discovered at the opposite end of the site. In 2011, American School scholar Aileen Ajootian matched the fragments and joined the pieces together, making the head of this sculpture whole once more.
