Research Topic: Mycenaean Pottery and Architecture from Ayia Irini, Kea
Dr. Anna Belza is the 2026–2027 Jacob Hirsch Fellow at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. Her research project, “Mycenaean Pottery and Architecture from Ayia Irini, Kea,” examines the Late Bronze Age III pottery and architecture of the Cycladic settlement of Ayia Irini on Kea. Expanding upon her doctoral dissertation, Anna’s project aims to complete the study of the material culture from Mycenaean period domestic contexts in preparation for publication. Through the firsthand analysis of ceramics and architectural remains, her research advances understanding of social activities and settlement organization at Ayia Irini. Anna’s project also refines ceramic synchronisms between Kea, the mainland, and Crete, enhancing broader discussions of regional interactions in the LBA III Cyclades.
