Research Topic: Allies in Faith: the Patriarchate of Constantinople and its Agency in Venetian Crete in the Second Half of the Fourteenth Century and the Early Fifteenth Century (1353-1410)
Guoda Gediminskaitė is a postdoctoral researcher working on the mobility of ideas, images, and material culture in Late Byzantium through philological, historical, and art-historical lenses. She holds a Ph.D. in Historical Sciences from the University of the Republic of San Marino, where she explored ideological and iconographic exchanges between the capital, Constantinople, and its geographical margins, particularly Crete. While at the Gennadius Library, she will investigate the mechanisms of religious agency exercised by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople on Crete during the second half of the fourteenth and the early fifteenth centuries, drawing on both written and visual sources.
