Research Topic: An Aristotelian Defense of Territorial States

Tommy Johnson is pursuing a Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a focus on political theory. His research centers on ancient Greek political thought, especially Aristotle and Plato, and its relevance for contemporary questions of territorial justice, property, citizenship, and environmental displacement. He is particularly interested in how classical political philosophy can illuminate modern debates about the ethical foundations of political communities, territorial states, and shared civic life, especially in the context of pressing questions raised by climate change, natural disasters, and displacement.
