Νέος χειρόγραφος χάρτης της πολιορκίας του Χάνδακα (Ηράκλειο) από τους Οθωμανούς το 1669, αγοράστηκε πρόσφατα σε δημοπρασία χάρη στη γενναιοδωρία των Επιτρόπων της Γενναδείου Βιβλιοθήκης.

The Gennadius Library has acquired a unique hand-drawn map of the siege of Candia (Herakleion) by the Ottomans in 1669 thanks to the generosity of its Board of Overseers.

Ένα νέο χειρόγραφο στις συλλογές της Γενναδείου Βιβλιοθήκης: ένα τεκμήριο ιστορίας της ελληνικής εκπαίδευσης του 19ου αιώνα

Ένα πολύ σημαντικό τεκμήριο για την ιστορία της ελληνικής εκπαίδευσης αποκτήθηκε πρόσφατα από τη Γεννάδειο βιβλιοθήκη. Πρόκειται για ένα χειρόγραφο σημειωματάριο (MSS 827.5) που ανήκε στον Γερμανό (κατά κόσμο Νικήτα) Μιχαήλο, δάσκαλο που γεννήθηκε στη Σύμη το 1791.

A new manuscript in the collections of the Gennadius Library: a source of history of 19th-century Greek education

A very important document for the history of Greek education was recently acquired by the Gennadius library: a handwritten notebook (MSS 827.5) that belonged to Germanos (né Niketas) Michaelos, a teacher born on the island of Syme in 1791.

Ο καθηγητής Curtis Runnels δώρισε πρόσφατα στη Γεννάδειο Βιβλιοθήκη ένα χειρόγραφο (MSS 891), που περιέχει μια νομική συλλογή και τοποθετείται χρονολογικά μεταξύ του δεύτερου μισού του 17ου αιώνα και των αρχών του 18ου αιώνα.

Απεβίωσε ο Peter Mackridge

Ο κόσμος των νεοελληνικών σπουδών είναι φτωχότερος μετά το θάνατο του Peter Mackridge (12 Μαρτίου 1946 - 16 Ιουνίου 2022), επίτιμου καθηγητή Νέων Ελληνικών στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Οξφόρδης, υποτρόφου στο St Cross College και αγαπητού φίλου της Γενναδείου Βιβλιοθήκης.
