Educational Resources

With fieldwork beginning in 1931, the Athenian Agora excavations have unearthed thousands of artifacts, and made them publicly accessible through the ascsa.net. Moreover, the scholarly study, and publications of artifacts contribute to our understanding of the Agora and life in Athens from antiquity to the early 20th century. The Agora disseminates the research beyond the academic world, striving to bridge the gap between archaeology and schools, by communicating its archaeological work in a way that resonates with students of all grade levels. The outcome of these efforts is the creation of educational and outreach programs, for schools in Greece and internationally. These programs utilize artifacts found on-site to communicate to the public the archaeological fieldwork and practices that take place in the Athenian Agora, to present the diverse periods of antiquity, and modern times, offering insights to life in ancient Athens and Greece more generally. All educational activities are held under the auspices and with the cooperation of the Athens Ephorate of Antiquities.
